I happened to come across the post waaay back about the uh,
official Runaways theme song. It just occurred to me the other day that if there was a fitting enough song, it would be "There is a light that never goes out" by The Smiths. Well, that, and, Patrick Park's "Something Pretty", ( and countless others from the OC, the, ah, parallel universe of restless teens livin' it up and down in Californ-ia.)
And on the topic of the
Runaways film, if it ever comes out, my internal self if secretly crossing my fingers on it done in a totally irreverent, un-blockbustery style (in
another Marvel Universe, maybe), with the focus really on teenage relationships slipped under the guise of a superhero flick. I think that would capture the essence of Runaways best. Then again, who wouldn't like the action? Still, too much action kills the script, as Transformers and other films would testify.
What do you think? Would you root for an action flick, or something a little less for the mainstream market? Who cares about reality, what's
your preference?
